Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.

There is a growing body of evidence suggesting violent video games impact how children think, feel and behave. These impacts include increased aggression in the short and long-term, desensitisation to violence, decreased empathy and reduced social behaviour. In this presentation, Associate Professor Wayne Warburton will not only provide insights into the nature and prevalence of the problem but, importantly, will also suggest strategies to help prevent and manage screen overuse/video gaming disorders in children.

The commonly used Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) is just one of a number of tools available to clinicians to help assess cognition. This presentation, by Dr Hilton Koppe, will showcase the range of cognitive screening tools applicable for use in general practice, highlighting their strengths and limitations as well as helping determine which of these tools is most appropriate for any particular patient.

COVID is still very much around and older people are still most at risk of significant morbidity and even mortality from this disease. Evidence from the pandemic showed that those aged over 65 were 23 times more likely to die with COVID infection than those aged under 65. As Associate Professor Paul Griffin will discuss, there are a number of reasons for this increased vulnerability to severe COVID infection in older people but there are important management strategies, many of which involve primary care, that can be helpful in mitigating this risk.

One in four pregnant women experience early pregnancy bleeding2 (also known as threatened miscarriage), with initial presentation often occurring in general practice.1 New research has determined that micronised vaginal progesterone (Utrogestan) has been shown to reduce the risk of miscarriage in women with early pregnancy bleeding and a history of previous miscarriages3. In this talk, hear the latest evidence on the role of progesterone including the when, why, how and for whom? Obstetrician and gynaecologist, Prof. Bill Ledger will present the current recommendations for the treatment and management of women who present with early pregnancy bleeding. References. 1.
